She’s boundless. She twirls. She sits. She meditates. She echoes. She struts. She occupies. She’s also a bit of a drama queen. It is Space. Gentle and simple yet very complicated. It is the contemporary that this practice thrives in. Live performances and improvisations influenced by simply a form of expression. The expression of the body and its physical and mental state in relation to space and time.
It is expressing power and grace that transpire within putting together a piece of devotion and creating a picture. It is motion as well as complete stillness. It’s the art of landscaping the mind and soul by setting free a simple form of communication. Creation is built by capturing motion within the process itself, therefore a variety of different media is explored throughout this practice. Drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and film all depicting motion and stillness, where the ‘body’ is the unifying element to all of the work. Simplifying form into line and distorted images of the same subject in which the works present a visual realm, allowing the subject to let loose and be free.
The execution of the practice is formed through repetition in a space that is fractured and dynamic, attracting one’s energy within the space and questioning the interconnection between the body in relation space.
